Accessing eMIMSplus from FRED Dispense (eMIMS Link v2)
Purpose
This article is intended for FRED Dispense users who have upgraded or switched MIMS licenses from eMIMS Classic (windows application) to eMIMSplus or eMIMSelite (websites). eMIMS Classic provides an eMIMS Link ActiveX component that allows interoperability between FRED Dispense and eMIMS. This article discusses the new version of this component that can be used with eMIMSplus or eMIMSelite.
For FRED users who are still on eMIMS Classic, please refer to this page.
What is eMIMS Link?
eMIMSlink.exe is an ActiveX component that exposes basic functionalities of eMIMS to other programs, including initiating a medicine search in eMIMSplus from within FRED, or jumping directly to the Abbrev PI, FullPI, and CMI pages.
How does it work?
An instance of eMIMS Link is instantiated when the eMIMSlink.exe application is invoked (either manually or by FRED Dispense). The program runs on the background (minimises to TaskBar) and “waits” for FRED Dispense commands.
How do I set this up?
- Step 1: Obtain your eMIMSplus or eMIMSelite Token by contacting MIMS Customer Support
- Step 2: Download eMIMS Link v2.
- Step 3: Run the exe file to start installation. This will replace the existing eMIMS LInk for eMIMS Classic. During installation, it will ask for the eMIMSplus token. Enter the token you obtained in Step 1. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
- Step 4: Restart your computer.
After installation, test FRED Dispense to check if clicking on MIMS buttons will open a browser session to eMIMSplus or eMIMSelite instead of opening up eMIMSClassic.
